Talk of the Town - Update on town water - Waylandpost

On August 26th, 2025 the Wayland Water Division experienced a pipe failure at the Temporary PFAS Treatment System located at the Happy Hollow Wells. The Town has continued to rely on a temporary MWRA water connection under an Emergency Water Supply Declaration for the past 35 days.

Get Involved – Volunteer with Wayland Post

The Water Division will continue to operate the MWRA Emergency Interconnection until the Happy Hollow PFAS Treatment System can be placed back into normal operation. The water is safe to drink and use for all common purposes. The current nonessential outdoor water use restrictions will stay in place.
Currently the Happy Hollow Treatment System is comprised of temporary, leased components that are housed in a fabric enclosure as shown below. This system is permitted by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as a “pilot” system and is not intended or constructed to be a permanent solution for PFAS treatment.
