Wayland resident James Costigan, a sophomore at the New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, earned statewide recognition in the 2025–26 Massachusetts Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running recognition program for creative teens. Costigan received a Gold Key award for his scratchboard drawing, “Skeleton.” The distinction is the highest regional honor, placing his work among the top submissions in Massachusetts. Gold Keys are awarded to the top 5–7% of the submissions in the region.
He will be honored at the official awards ceremony on March 15 at the Aidekman Arts Center on the Tufts University campus. His Gold Key piece will also be featured in the public exhibition at Breed Hall from March 14–22.
