The Wayland Council on Aging is delighted to unveil its new logo, a cheerful design that evokes the idea of people coming together. The logo was designed by Jennifer Dowling, a Wayland resident and winner of the COA’s recent logo contest.

“I was interested in showing community and connection,” explained Dowling. “The logo design features abstract people radiating from a central axis. The colors show vibrant energy and the figures’ symmetry shows inclu-

siveness of different levels of physical and mental ability and agility.”

Dowling is a professor at Framingham State University teaching courses in graphic design, digital tools, visual communication and animation. In addition to being a designer, she creates artwork using mixed media and mosaics. She received a BA in Studio Art from the University of New Hampshire and an MFA in Visual Design & Interactive Media from UMass Dartmouth. A Wayland resident for 26

years, Dowling and her husband Bill raised their two sons, Tim and Ryan, in Wayland. You can find her work on Instagram and Facebook as @MillbrookStudio.

“We are thrilled with our new logo,” says COA Director Julie Secord. “Our upcoming move to Wayland’s new Community Center feels like the right time for the COA to have our first-ever logo. We had wonderful submissions to our contest, and we are so grateful to everyone who took the time to sub-

mit their ideas, and to the committee who helped evaluate the submissions. We are really excited to beginusing our new logo to identify ourselves and our programs.”

Watch for the COA’s new logo to begin appearing this spring.
