Looking for an affordable way to explore the area’s cultural and natural treasures this summer? The Wayland Free Public Library offers access to more than just books and movies.

Thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Wayland Library and the patrons who shop at the Friends’ ongoing book sale, library cardholders can access free or discounted admission to more than 30 museums, zoos, and conservation sites throughout eastern Massachusetts.

The discounted venues, which cater to everyone from adults to children, art lovers to budding scientists, and nature buffs (see list below). Reserving a pass is easy. Library cardholders can visit waylandlibrary.org, call the library, or stop by in person to check availability and book a pass. Passes can be reserved up to three weeks in advance. Because quantities are limited for each day and location, early booking is highly recommended, especially during weekends, school vacations, and summer months.

The library offers three types of passes depending on the destination institution: paper coupons that can be picked up at the library, plastic passes that must be returned on the day after use, and digital passes delivered via email. Many digital passes include a barcode to scan at the museum’s ticket office or a promo code for online ticket purchases, making the process convenient and straightforward. If your plans change, please cancel your reservations as early as possible so that others can take advantage of the opportunity.

Museum pass coupons typically offer discounts for groups of two to six people, and details of the discount vary by museum or venue. More information can be found on the Museum Discount Pass page of the library website at tinyurl.com/wayland-passes.

Your library card is a gateway to discovery, even beyond the library collection. Whether you’re introducing your kids to science and nature at the Ecotarium, taking in the art at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, or enjoying a discounted ferry ride to the Boston Harbor Islands, the library’s Museum Discount Pass Program can help make these experiences more accessible.

To learn more or reserve a pass, visit the library or go to waylandlibrary.org.
