Polly Athanas

Polly Athanas, 101 years of age, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. She was born in the family residence on Cochituate Road on February 22, 1924 the daughter of the late Ebon L. Adams and Hilma (Johnson) Adams. She has been a lifelong resident of Cochituate and was a graduate of Wayland High School.

Polly was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas “Nick” Athanas who died in October of 2010 and the loving mother of the late Norma Paula Athanas who died in August of 2007. Polly is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Polly has been a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church in Cochituate and in her earlier years active in many of the church events. She loved to knit, do crafts and spend time in her garden growing flowers.  She also was an animal lover and enjoyed the time she spent as a member of the Wayland Senior Citizens.

Her funeral service was held on Friday. March 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland with the Reverend Rebecca Cho officiating. Interment was at the Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.
